You might think I’m describing the feeling of competing in some Olympic event, but I’m actually talking about something much more common: the experience of trying to back-calculate taxes and fees using a cell phone calculator—or even an old-fashioned abacus—just to adjust a Cash Price or Monthly Payment on a sales deal, all while the customer stares across the desk at you.
If this scenario sounds familiar, I’ve got some great news. There’s a hidden gem within the Lightspeed Leads, Quotes, and Deals screen that can transform this stressful experience into something more like floating on a cloud while effortlessly closing a sale.
The secret lies in a simple tool you already have at your fingertips: the TAB key on your keyboard. By pressing TAB at just the right moment, Lightspeed will automatically handle all the back-calculations and price adjustments as you negotiate with your customer.
Here’s how it works:
At the bottom of your Leads, Quotes, and Deals screen, you’ll find two important fields:
- Cash Price
- Monthly Payment
By clicking on these dollar values and typing a new number that differs from what’s currently shown, then pressing TAB, a window will pop up on your Lightspeed screen. This window offers a range of options to adjust the Cash Price or Monthly Payment to the desired amount.
You can select from options such as Unit Price Discount, Service Contract Discount, Down Payment Amount, or Interest Rate Adjustment. Lightspeed will then handle all the recalculations for you.
By using this simple trick in your deal negotiation process, you can save yourself time, reduce stress, and ensure a happy customer experience every time.
